Our growing client is looking for an account assistant to join the head office function based just outside of Swindon. This is an excellent role for an experienced individual wanting to own the function within a growing business. Monday to Friday with an early finish Friday.
A degree in accounting or finance would be desirable ( ACCA or CIMA part qualification would be advantageous). Previous experience in a finance or accounting position using Sage-50/100 is essential.
Key Responbilities
- Preparing monthly Management Accounts
- Producing profit and loss accounts
- Preparing and executing monthly payroll
- Managing accruals and repayments
- Reconciling bank balances
- Compiling cash flow forecasts on a weekly and monthly basis
- Answering purchase/sales ledger queries
- Reconciling supplier statements and payments
- Ensuring that all client financial governance requirements are achieved in a timely manner
- Pro-actively identifying ways to improve accounting and reporting systems
- Liaising with clients/distributors/external/internal staff as required
- Good financial skill set at an advanced level
- Assisting with transactional processing duties (posting and raising invoices, credit control etc.)
- Monitoring any ongoing agreements i.e., utilities, phone, insurances etc.
- Preparing and submitting VAT partial exemption and standard VAT returns
- Budgeting and forecasting
- Preparing year-end financial statements, including processing year-end adjustments
- Preparing internal and external reports
Skills and Experience
- Confident communicator with staff and external bodies
- Excellent organisation skills with understanding of discretion and responsibility for important documents
- Ideally qualified to HNC level in Bookkeeping or Accountancy
- Experience of working for an SME
- Experience of payroll processing
- Good attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
